Hi, ive recently been made homeless and am on JSA. Ive seen a few cheapish places about but dont wanna go for them until i know what im entittled to. Im 25 years old single male. Ive used a thing called an LHA Calculator (https://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/BedRoomCalculator.aspx) ??? My local authority is birmingham city council, the figure i get from here is up to £97 per week. I was wondering if this is correct as the places ive seen are around the £300 per month mark. Any advice would be gratefully apptlreciated, also sorry if this is the wrong section.

as you are under 35, you will only be entitled to the shared accomodation rate. and that comes back as £56.21 a week for birmingham0

The current rate is £56.21 per week.0

Hi. This is what someone said to me but when i use that calculator thing it says 97 pound for 1 bedroom??0
-
thats because you are looking at the 1 bed rate.
as you are under 35 you can only claim for a room in a shared property or a studio/bedsit.
and if you cant get either within the £56,21 you will have to top it up from your benefit0 -
Its really hard to find somewhere that costs 57 pound a week, everywhere that does wants you to pay for gas + electric and other bills seprately and this would be impossible on what im on as i have nothing to put to the side. The places that are around 300 a month are saying to me that would include the costs of bills and stuff.0

you are expected to pay utilities from your JSA. even if you found a property for the £56 and it included bills, they woukld deduct the bills from it.
your JSA is for ALL living expenses and not just food0 -
Housing benefit doesn't cover household bills that needs to be budgeted for from your other benefits.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Does anyone know how much a rough edtimate of costs for utilities would be for 1 person every 3 months? Just a rough estimate would be helpfull. I dont want to find somewhere that i end up stuck in a rut after 3 months once the bills arive!!0

Would i be looking around the 200£ mark every 3 months for utilitues? Is that abit much or less then i could expect?0

i have a flat any my electric and water work out at around £79is a month , so £219 every 3 months. but sharing the bills with others should bring that amount down0
