Indeed since around 7.30 I haven't been able to receive/send text or calls
but O2 status checker is reporting problemsSorry we're currently investigating reports that a phone mast in this area isn't working.
This means you might experience problems making calls, using the internet, or sending / receiving emails in this area.
Updated 21:00 (refreshed hourly). Recent faults might not show yet.0 -
Seems to be all ok now0

Is there updates anywhere else? Giffgaff forum keeps crashing for me?0

I wonder if its possible to take a bet on the entire O2 / GiffGaff network falling over altogether while they limp along until the 4G upgrade can be implemented?
It's as if O2 just gave up on 3G maintenance and expansion when 4G was announced.====0 -

They gave up on 3G a while ago when they were fined by Ofcom for not building and maintaining their 3G network fast enough.
I'm having a tough time recommending O2 or Giff Gaff to anyone these days.0 -
I just joined Giffgaff and notice that I'm forever having to go into/out of aeroplane mode to get my phone to reconnect to their masts. I've tried it in various phones and it's the same.
Apparently, as there are 2 masts a similar distance apart it doesn't know which is best to connect and jumps between the 2.
I'm forever worrying with the 'unlimited data' that they will cut you off with no notice, despite no fair usage policy or limit. They say if you're using a lot of data they will remove you from their network to protect other people. I can to some degree understand but it's a bit unfair, you cannot call something unlimited, not have any T&C yet put in a glass ceiling that changes constantly?
People have been banned and told 'you need to adhere to the T&C' but in all honesty they are..0 -

Well its just the O2 network so its your phone that is dodgy if you have to do that as it not normal. Unlimited data allows considerable usage so I don't see why you should forever worry, invariably the people that got cut were taking the mick big time although they won't admit it.0 -

No, it's the Giffgaff.
Their system is just pathetic. Permanent failures and they keep to blame everyone and everything else, just not themselves.
I can't remember a month without major failure. Not to mention minor ones.
Plus lack of detailed billing so you never know what they are charging you for.
Price is not everything.0 -
GiffGaff's systems are flaky and the O2 network is also flaky.
Saying that, I did keep the sim card for calling 0800 numbers

I've put my sim in various handsets and it's still the same... the o2 network seems a bit flakey!
Of course you worry, if I watch quite a few videos on youtube etc is this going to be considered 'too much data'.. As they never tell you, you have no clue what they're working against before they ban you.
They obviously have figures internally that are guidelines, yet they don't release this to the community.0
