I swear by Bobbi Brown "Brownie" (33) for daytime. It's a deeper nude, creamy, light, slight sheen, very natural. Looks like you've bothered but aren't trying too hard!
It's the only lipstick I've ever used right down to the end.

MAC Hug Me lipstick- universally flattering nude-but-better shade. I have similar colouring to you and it looks divine.0

I would say go to your nearest Space NK. They are really helpful and if you tell them your requirements they'll do the donkey work for you.
They stock , amongst oh hers, Lipstick Queen who do some lovely sheers and matte colours. I hate shimmery lipsticks, very ageing!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
If you bought a lipstick which is too bright, why not mix it with some gloss or a lighter shade (using a lip brush) to tone it down?
I use this, it is £17.50 though! (go to the clinique counter and ask to try it, and don't be put off by the name, it's a tinted gloss).
