I agree with this, to some extent anyway, and if the OP gives the dealer the opportunity to compete then fair enough, I suspect though that he/she will just assume 'online is cheaper', seen it a million times. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
You'll forgive me if I don't lose too much sleep over these poor Vauxhall dealers martyring themselves by giving test drives in Vauxhall cars...

Well, you clearly have no idea how the World works...
Do you think the dealership (or perhaps more importantly the salesperson trying to earn a living) gets paid for demonstrating a car for Ling and Co?
They test drive in the hope of selling a vehicle, no other reason. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

Not all manufacturers work in such a primitive manner.
Some manufacturers realise that fleet/lease customers will seek test drives at local dealers and so have arrangements in place to ensure these customers are catered for without the local dealer being out of pocket.0 -

This is basically incorrect, sorry.
Don't get me wrong, some dealerships have a fleet department to cater for businesses looking at replacing/adding a number of vehicles, but in this instance, the OP simply wants to go and 'joyride' and then place his/her order through a broker. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0
