Sorry, it was all my fault.
I have a cold, and I cough and sneeze when I was connected to Nationwide online recently.
I must have given my cold virus to the Nationwide computer.
I hope it feels better now.

On my ipad it appears still down (clicking login on Nationwide homepage) and has done since yesterday even though it is up. I think it's probably a cookie related thing. I didn't want to clear all cookies so found a workaround. I used the Nationwide search box on the word login and from the 3rd link provided I got to the customer number page.

I'm on my laptop at the moment using Firefox and just checked Nationwide and it is working for me.
  • Neither could I. Spent ages on the phone and finally told they didn't support my browser but try clearing the history and all caches and it worked. Hope this helps anyone whose still locked out.

I'm on transferred funds all done.
  • I had to clear cookies before I could log in. Nationwide's customer service weren't able to help with providing this solution, but they did try to help by recommending that I use Internet Explorer instead of my usual browser; this got me thinking and I realised I should clear cookies.

A day's delay transferring funds but all in all another satisfied Nationwide customer here. Don't knock them just because they're down : their online banking was unavailable for one afternoon but that doesn't immediately warrant changing banking provider. I've used their online banking since its inception (which is so long ago that I can't remember how long ago it was) and this is the first problem I have encountered with it.
  • It wasn't just home users that were affected, and it wasn't down for just two hours. The whole network was affected which meant the branches were unable to do anything except let you withdraw £100, and it lasted pretty much all day.
I know this as I was due to pay the deposit on my new flat to our solicitor yesterday, and I tried in the morning in Birmingham, and it still wasn't rectified when I arrived back in London in the afternoon.
To their credit, the Nationwide staff let me in early when they arrived to open up this morning and found me waiting outside to get the payment made first thing. It was a very anxious day though, and I was being chased by my solicitor, their solicitor, and our estate agents all day long!
