SKY Ripoff??

Posts: 2 Newbie
Hi
I would like to draw attention to what I see as at the minimum sharp practice and at worst a scam by Sky in their Broadband provision and would be interested to see/hear how widespread the practice is, and hear opinion as to what should happen.
In August 2006 Sky offered Sky Broadband - free/low cost broadband connection to their digital TV subscribers.
In September 2006 Sky offered to potential subscribers who they could not immediately add to their free/low cost service, their Sky Connect Service at £17 pm with the promise in an email;
"If you choose to take Sky Broadband Connect, we’ll automatically switch you to Mid when it becomes available.
Sky Broadband as been available in our area for some months now but strangely Sky will not transfer me until convenient to them, preferring to collect £17pm rather than the £5pm for Sky Broadband Mid.
I believe they will continue to do this till August 2007 when my Sky Connect Contract will end. Sky will have received in Payment £102 instead of £30 for Broadband.
Sky has not responded to my written complaint over the issue.
Comments please

What do the Terms and Conditions of your contract say? But I agree that if they give the impression that you'll be switched automatically as soon as it's available when in fact you're tied into the Sky connect contract then it's a bit fishy and I'd get complaining if I were you!0

Phone their Head Office 08702 40 3000 and ask to speak to Customer Relations. Much better than trying to wait while pressing buttons selecting which department you want and ending up on hold for 30 mins. Good luck.0
