iPhone 5 battery

I would appreciate some help / guidance please.
My IPhone 5 battery suddenly required charging far more regularly than previously about a month to 6 weeks ago.
I have it with me all the time but I am a very low user. That includes phone calls, Internet usage, texts.
It is now requiring charge daily whereas before it was 2-3 times a week.
I travel a lot and it is very inconvenient.
As an example, it was on full charge at 10.00 last night. It is now on 57% and all I did was use the alarm. I am 2 hours ahead of Uk ATM (it is now 8: 20)
The Apple shop put it on one of their diagnosis machines and said it was ok, but it is just so inconvenient. The machine was flawed in terms of the accuracy of the information.
I was going to use the camera today, but don't think it will get through.
Any thoughts/ help would be gratefully appreciated.
Please let me know of any further information needed

The iPhone 5 battery is the worst ive had in an iPhone, and with little/no usage mine requires a full charge overnight every night. whenever im in the car i plug it in, and i keep a USB cable at work to charge during the day (as i use it a lot in the office).
Smart phones use more power, and i imagine most need charging every night, the iPhone 5 has the worst battery life i know of in smart phones.
turn your brightness down, turn off location services, give it a full charge every night.
also let the battery run to nothing once every few weeks and then charge to full. If you constantly recharge a battery before it's had chance to run out completely it can affect the calibration0 -
This has to be the worst battery I have ever had on a phone too, I leave the house at 07:30 and get the train to work.
Yes I use the internet whilst listening to Spotify but by the time I arrive at my desk at 08:45 my battery has gone from 100% to 68%
I purchased a 2nd charger (thanks for changing the cable Apple) so I always have an emergency charge at work and also use Battery Doctor when charging but it hasnt made a difference.
So many forums say, turn off wi-fi, turn your brightness down, turn off location services but then you no longer have a smart phone but a Nokia 3210.
I think my time to turn away from the iPhone has finally come, but great to see so many better alternatives arriving.0 -
It's that extra row of icons it needs to power!
I dunno, one of the reasons why I avoided the iphone 5 whilst going for an iphone, no answers on how the current hardware will affect battery. I am aware, before it is pointed out, that this is no guarantee with battery usage and iphones, due to their software updating!
You could try and locate one of these external chargers for iphones with lightning plug on it and see if that helps. Like the emergency AA powered things, easy to carry around, or like the other posted said, buy an extra charger for work/college/end of travel location.0 -
It's hard to say without tracking your usage. Browsing over 3G drains the battery significantly compared to browsing over wifi.
I guess what you could do is track your usage. It's easy to do. Go to settings>general>usage>time since last full charge. If you see that the iPhone wasn't in standby when it is suppose to be, then something must have been running in the background. In that case, the only option would be to restore your phone since Apple confirmed that the battery isn't faulty.
Also, are you using the latest iOS?0 -

It's the function of smartphones these days. We have too many features that are draining the battery faster than expected. iPhone has one of the best batteries but even that's not enough I guess. The main problem is that battery technology is not advancing at the same rate as phone technology.
Regarding using spotify, it will drain battery quite fast in many phones including S3.0 -
Is your brightness for screen high ? I find that , drains battery pretty fast . Lowering it has its disadvantage's too . Lower setting will save battery to last longer .0

does it?
a quick google shows its Li-Po 1440 mAh battery vs the S3s Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery from your example0 -

I didn't say it has the best battery.
But thanks for pointing that out. I guess using the phrase battery life would have been more appropriate.
By the way, a few months back I read in a website that you can browse the internet longer with an iPhone 5 compared to S3 albeit iPhone 5 has a smaller capacity battery. Not sure whether that test was fair or not.0 -

I would say, buy a spare battery. Oh wait, it's an iPhone...
Did you install any new app recently, which runs in the background all the time and drains the battery? On my Android, if I go to settings > battery, it tells me which apps used the most battery. There should be a similar thing on the iPhone...
Also, is there a setting "use 2G networks only", which saves battery if you don't need 3G speed?
You said, your phone was 100% last night at 10. But why did you disconnect it from the charger? Leave it connected until the morning. Since I'm using smartphones my daily routine is to connect my phone to the charger when I go to bed to start with a full battery in the morning...0 -

given the S3 is pumping more power and a larger screen
I dont see how it could be
apples and oranges0
