O/S Daily Tuesday 23ndApril 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good Morning Halight and All Who Follow x
I have not been posting but have been reading and been with you in spirit x
Lame Wolf - I am sorry to have missed your birthday but so glad you had a good day and enjoyed some Hestering. I think that word should become part of the OS vocabulary. Who should we attribute it to?
I am so sad atm. My eldest son arrived home unexpectedly after being attacked by his girlfriend on Saturday night. She beat him around the head with a metal implement, threw a glass at him and slapped him whilst he lay in bed. He is 6ft plus 15 stone and just took him but he was like a shadow of his former self when he arrived here on Sunday. We would have gone and collected him but he had run out of credit:eek: I hope to God he does not go back to her but now feels bad as she is saying she is going to kill herself - not if I get to her first - my poor son. He also does not know what to do about the rent as he still has a month and a bit to run on the lease. Does anyone know? Im guessing he will be liable.
My youngest son shows no signs of improvement and is so depressed.
Anyhow I am off to counselling today and my counsellor is so very kind so he will help me make sense of it all. Then we will get my parents shopping - my dad is doing brilliantly and i feel a bit closer to my parents atm - so that is positive. Then we will get my sons' belongings - not much but he only has the clothes he stood up in. If we cant get them then we will have to get him some more - I dont care.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning
molly . OMG. That's terrible, hope he doesn't go back xx
Sunshine here :j just put some washing on the line and then I'm off to work till 6. It will be busy as it always is but it does make it go fast
Omelette for breakfast
Hope you al have a lovely day xx0 -
Molly, that's so awful. Hugs to you and your son.
Morning All
Another windy day here with showers (yesterday's shower lasted most of the day), so no washing on the line.
House still clean and tidy from the viewing, will make something with chicken for tea as that's what I have taken out of the freezer, will take a salad for lunch.
Work last night was busy but still enjoyable, I was in by 10 so it wasn't too bad - some of the others stay to watch the washing machines go round to get extra money but I don't see the point, I would rather be at home.
Off to an evening with Christopher Brookmyre tonight at a local library with a friend, hope it's good.
Take care. XX0 -
Good Morning Halight and Molly41,Oh dear what a dreadful thing to happen.Your poor son must feel terrible.Well done on not retaliating to this evil horrible person though, bless him.Lots of TLC from Mum will help hopefully. To get out of an abusive relationship and walk away with dignity was the right thing to do.Poor chap it sound as though threatening is all she can do to hurt him now.
I can feel for you Molly as no matter how big your chidlren are they are still your kids and you want to protect them You are really going through the mill at the moment, but do let of steam on here as we are all here for you <<hugs>>
Well the sun is shining and the sky is blue and I can see the River Medway clearly in the distance so its a good sign for a nice day.School run first thing, then home to polish off the ironing and get it put away. This afternoon I have to go for my mammogram as next month I see the oncologist and hopefully he will sign me off as my five years remission is up
:):) Mammograms are not my favourite things but in 2007 having one probably saved my life as I had no lump, bumps or any symptoms of breast cancer and luckily is showed up on screen and it was caught in time (fingers crossed)It will be nice not to have to take the medication anymore and although I am a bit lop-sided
:)I'm alive and kicking which is the main thing
My DDs want to celebrate next month when I hopefully get the all clear but I never count my chickens I am just so grateful that I was sorted out before it got any worse
No food shopping to get at all thank goodness.I have been great at staying away from the supermarkets and don't miss them at all.I tried the sweet potatos that I had given me from my neighbour and quite liked themI had some last night mashed with my dinner.
I just have a bit of paperwork to sort and send today then I'm up to date with everything for a change
Hope you all have a good day
take care

Good morning!
molly that's terrible. Your poor son. His rent is only money, not his health or sanity. Keep him safe.
I'm off to work today, I should find out if there is the chance of a new post becoming available. It would be a promotion if I got it so fingers crossed.
I've got to take OH car as mine is playing up. It appears to be a known issue with my model of car, they are doing free diagnostics as I spoke to head office and if it is this issue, then they'll mend it for free.
Did anyone watch Broadchurch? I was disappointed with the killer. I had that person down for it weeks ago, but thought it was too obvious. I did like that they showed the aftermath of the revelation though. Deliberately left this vague in case anyone hasn't seen it yet.
Curry for tea tonight as everyone fancied pasta yesterday. I've got to bake tomorrow as we're almost out of sweet treats. I think I'll make carrot muffins tomorrow. I'm obsessed with my mini muffin tin at the moment.0 -

Morning all!
Halight...your cheery note brightened my morning!
Molly - I'm so sorry your family seem to be going through such a tough time! You're a fab mum - well done. I totally get you on the looking forward to seeing your counsellor thing - I look forward to seeing mine no end! She's a fab help!
All good in the mansionette this morning. Got woken up a little earlier than I'd have liked by the puppette but I suppose I can't complain as she slept through the night!
I'm not working today so the plan is to chill out a bit, and relax! I do have to clean the landlords house for 2 hours (for a reduction in rent which is great) so will get onto that soon!
I also have to bake some bread. I made some tea loaf yesterday and forgot how much I liked baking...and cheap as chips! It will all help the budget which is stretched tighter than the elastic band on a new pair of knickers for the next couple of months! I have to admit, it's not easy but I am enjoying the challenge and learning how little I ACTUALLY need to live on. That's very inspiring! This may end up being the very best thing for me!
Cauliflower Cheese soup is on the menu for tonight....with said fresh bread! It should make enough for at least 4 servings - I heart Lidl and their weekly specials! A head for 50p...I went and got two heads!
Might try and get out for a walk...I really can't wait for puppy to have finished her jabs!GC January 2015 - £0/£1200 -
Morning everyone
Molly - I'm sure that your love and support will help your son make the right choices x
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Bright blue sky and sunshine, although we have had some rain during the night.
Dinner last night was pork chops, roast potatoes, LO mash, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires, carrots and gravy - dessert from the fridge or tins for those that wanted one. Dinner tonight will be gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash, peas and green beans.
Wasn't happy when DS2 got home from school - bought him 2 x new pairs of school trousers on Saturday and some little *** had smeared chewing gum over a seat and he'd got it all over the back of his trousers. So had to try to scrap it off using an ice cube - did seem to get most of it off hoping it will look better once they've been washed.
Workmen are due back this morning, they got the bathroom stripped out and solved the mystery of the uneven floor and sorted it - so I'm pleased about that. They should be getting a good part of the bathroom suite fitted today, starting with the new ceiling boards - looks so horrible at the moment down to the plaster but just keep focusing on how it will look once it's all finished! It will start to look better today as they're hoping to start the tiling too.
Keep safe and well x
