Check they are not in start up (could be as simple as that!):

    - My Computer
    - C:
    - Documents and Settings
    - [LOG ON NAME]
    - Start Menu
    - Programs
    - Startup

If there are any shortcuts in there for those programs, delete them (shortcuts in here launch when you log into Windows)

Also this might be spyware/mailware/adware programs. Download Spybot Search and Destroy free (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html), run the update and do a scan. Will remove any unwanted nasty - the best spyware removal program I have found.

If you do these both and still have a ptoblem and cant remove through Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs then you will prob have to do a search and manually delete all instances of it on your computer (Search/Find C:\) and also delete it anywhere where it appears in the registry. Let us know if it gets to this point and we will help you.

PM me if you need a hand...

    Hi
first or all the programe referred to are not showing the start-up menu. They are real prrogrammes: Kodak, Quick time and Samsung Media Prog. So I don't want to delete them, its just that I don't use them all that often so don't need them in start-upo and, since I recently had probs booting up I thought it best to slim down operations as much as possible.
I did find them in My computer/start up and taskbar, and disabled them (3 04 4 times now) but they still show up on the task bar as running......

But I did download Spybot Search and Destroy as you suggested, ran a scan and it found loads, like over 20 - despite the fact that I scanned with Spyware blaster 2 days ago and it found none! So its off to the bin with Mr Blaster:D

I haven't tried start-up mechanic yet but shall be doing that next so you never know.......I just hope, after downloading these progs that when I come to start mu pc up again it doesn't have its usual tantrum and refuse to boot up - its very tetchy!

Anyway, thanks again you all....I'll be back:rolleyes:
    Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)

    I use Autoruns:
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Security/Autoruns.mspx

Freebie by Microsoft from Mark Russinonich, that's enough for me to drop anything else :p

It also tells you file path and who the publisher is, that should help identifying what software they are related to. Oh, and just use the logon tab, although you'll see that it displays information for a lot of other files and services as well.
