Fact is we like to see people win at POPLA at the PPCs' expense and this OP is quite happy appealing/challenging this, by the looks of it!
I don't disagree with you often Coupon, but on this I do I'm afraid. The best advice is to ignore as its still the most effective, providing that the vehicle is yours, you haven't already appealed to the parking company, and you haven't basically identified your self on fora such as this.
Popla with their thousand appeals in six months is not going to do anything to offset the ignorers, claims might have an impact slightly because I'm sure that what it's intended for. But in reality the majority who don't pay are going to be ones who ignore. I should imagine that veterans of the ignore route wont even know pofa 2012 has come in as they don't even bother to read the letter. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Worthy though it might be, people don't want to know how to "really really hurts the PPC not just on behalf of the actual person involved but for everyone else as well"...
...they just want the easiest solution to their PPC ticket/letter, and thus "ignore [unless genuine ct papers arrive]" is what people should be told, and indeed what they want to hear.0 -

You don't take into account that people are all different. I accept that for you, IGNORE may be the best solution, but others have a personality that gets stressed with waiting for the letter chain and terrified of a real court letter landing on the map.
Equally, and I am in this group, there are those who will examine all the "loopholes" for want of a better word to make 100% sure that the PPC has complied with all the aspects of their own trade body's regulations and POFA so that a successful POPLA appeal based on therir failings would work.
For disabled drivers, following c-m's good advice about shaming the supermarket into action and threatening the PPC under Equality legislation is another route I support, as is getting the retailer to act if you have been shopping and still have your receipts.
Ignore is a blunt weapon. Sometimes, when you are bang to rights and the PPC seems to have been compliant, it's the right course, but when there are other tools in the box that may be more effective, then use them.0 -
We see enough people on these forums who are significantly worried by the ignore route that it makes sense to head the PPCs off with a simple short two stage appeal, which will kill off the invoice and mean they don't have to worry about moving house for the next six years.
Statistically, any one person may be unlikely to be targeted, but that doesn't make the unlucky ones who are chosen, very happy.Dedicated to driving up standards in parking0 -

Yep, I am pretty much bored senseless by the amount of threads recently on pepipoo and here, from people who have followed the 'ignore' advice and then got in a real tizzy about some random Debt Recovery Plus letter which is just part of the usual chain or computerised drivel.
It must be a combination of the wording that DRP now use, plus the fact they can add 'the Protection of Freedoms Act' into their letters and so quote a law that makes them suddenly look legit, which misleads people more than they ever used to.
So they either panic and ring up DRP, or think they should suddenly 'appeal' now (too late) and these posters need a lot of reassurance all of a sudden. So for them, ignoring isn't easy and you see them post 'waaaaah! I wish I'd paid!' like some numpty.
Wouldn't have happened if they'd just appealed in time months before and made the PPC slip up at POPLA. End of scam. Easy.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If these people that you refer to panic when they get a DCA letter that's clearly shown on the threads here, then you're frankly barmy to think they would be more capable of going through a POPLA appeal [imo].
Ignore works for greater than 99.99999999% of tickets...and even if ct papers do turn up they are totally beatable.0 -

I agree people are different, but most people just want a simple solution to their problem...and the 'easiest' solution is to ignore all PPC letters.
The majority of people that go to POPLA are 'motivated' [and that's fine]. Good luck to them. The majority just want a quiet and easy life.
So people are different, so why do most regulars only give the option of POPLA as if it's somehow sacrosanct??? Surely the proper 'answer' is to explain the two solutions [and their pros and cons], and leave the OP to decide what they want to do.0 -

Hi Everyone,
I have received Parking Charge Notices and have always ignored them. But I have received one also with the Greenwich council logo. To be honest after reading this thread the mixed views has left me confused about what to do myself. I want to do the safest option and will anyone be able to advice me to the end if the advice is to appeal as no threads actually tell you what happened at the end of the process.
What should I do people, is it still good to ignore or better to appeal?
Thanks

Several threads tell you what happened; people do sometimes come back and say that ignoring a fake PCN just resulted in a load of letters and then nothing. Try searching the parking forum for the words 'nothing happened' and you'll get results.
However no-one can promise that a PPC won't suddenly start issuing small claims randomly against a few cases to try to spook people into paying. Two PPCs have started to do that recently (not Wing though).
Hence why most of us say APPEAL and use POPLA. Just two or three emails needed and you can win the final appeal with our help.
If you look at the 'POPLA decisions' thread near the top of this forum you can see all the decisions so far, which are almost all wins now for the motorist, where the appeal has been properly worded with strong grounds of appeal, with forum help. That thread is the 'what happened' outcomes info you were seeking but clearly didn't notice yet - I know on a froum sometimes it's hard to see the wood for the trees!
So, if you are still in time to appeal then that's the advice I would give, EXCEPT to tell you to actually wait until you get the first letter in the post to the registered keeper (if that's you).
Do not appeal straight away to a windscreen fake PCN from any PPC (unless you really NEED to do so, to hook all letters straight to yourself, e.g. if the keeper is someone naive/vulnerable or a lease/hire company, both of whom might be daft enough to just pay it and expect the driver to cough up!).
So read the 'POPLA decisions' thread and some other curent threads about POPLA (any on the front couple of pages are likely to have POPLA mentioned). Sit tight and wait for the Notice to Keeper letter and post a NEW THREAD please when you get it.
To search the forum or to start a new thread you need to be off this one! So see my signature for where to click (one click takes you to the main thread list again) 'POPLA decisions' thread near the top and search button and new thread button along the top too.PRIVATE 'PCN'?
