Skimlinks update

Hi folks,

Since we introduced Skimlinks back in April 2012, it has helped contribute towards the costs of running this free-to-use forum. This includes the staff, the server costs and the legal support required on a daily basis.

Up to now, it has been active on 16 of our non-money boards. As a one-month trial, we have extended Skimlinks to the following boards:

● Credit Cards
● Loans
● Budgeting & Bank Accounts
● Savings & Investments
● Insurance

After a month has passed, we’ll evaluate how the trial has gone and make a decision whether to keep it turned on in these extra boards.

Nothing else will change.

It’s is important to state that the parameters for this change remain exactly the same; existing registered members will be defaulted to “off” and visitors will have it switched on. We hope registered members decide to turn it on, but it’s your choice.


What’s the reason for this?


This forum costs a significant sum to run and we want to make your experience better and better. Whether it’s more efficient servers, implementing new ideas from our community, expanding the Forum Team itself to give us more resources - these things all require additional budget. Skimlinks allows us to do this in the least intrusive manner possible. We remain free-to-use and ad-free.

Hi all,

The trial period is now over, and we have decided to keep Skimlinks turned on in the extra boards (with no further changes to the above).
