O?S Monday 22nd April 2013

O/S Daily Monday 22ndApril 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Where is everyone today?
I was awake at 4.30 thatks to Buddy. Went back and got up at 6. Cuppa in hand now.

Didn't go to Batemans, SIL had a hangover:rotfl: So DD brought over a chicken and some potatoes, and I made dinner instead. DGD wanted to try her new scooter out, but she couldn't get the hang of it, so she ended up riding on Gramma's scooter instead!:rotfl:

OH has discovered the MIL problem. She is not eating enough, getting dizzy, having a panic attack and frightening everyone. He has now organised the neighbours to help. Getting on to Socila Services today.

Talking of Social Services, I had a letter from Dad;s home saying East Sussex are not paying his fees till November and would I settle the bill. £11,000!:eek::eek::eek: I haven 't got that now, let alone till Novembetr. DD is going to ring Social Sevices today, don't know what is going on, but I cant pay that.

Going to Bexhill today for a trawl roubd the charity shops if my feet let me.
    Have a good day.

    Thanks halight.
I have already paid out £62,000 over the past two years.
It's so unfair for him. We are still in dispute with the NHS as well. Got a meeting with them in July. OH says don't worry. Like you say, they won't kick him out. (I hope) the only thing is if they insist that he goes elsewhere. His home is so good and he is really happy there.
    We'll have to see. :(

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

DH up and off to work early but not stupid early.

Bright blue sky and sunshine - lovely start to the first day of the week. I'm off this week as the work starts today to re-fit my bathroom. Everyone up dressed and had brekkie.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork with all the trimmings. Dinner tonight should be pork chops (didn't plan that very well - but plan for this week is sketchy due to the work being done and not knowing what time they will finish each day etc, so menu may well be swapped around.)

Managed yesterday to get all the little jobs done ready for today - bathroom is now stripped bare except just the bathroom suite and the tiles - they are stripping it all out and then fitting the new. DH and DS1 got the potatoes set in the raised bed, so now everything is planted up - just got to hope that the weather is better than last year as the crops were pretty poor.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning!

hilstep I'm glad the MIL is being sorted out. £11000! It's not like people have that sort of cash lying around. Why November? Is that some arbitrary point?

halight I hope you hear from the hospital soon. It must be really frustrating for you.

Taking DS2 to school in an hour, DS1 walks with his mates. Then I'm going to the post office, doing a bit of tidying before I go to work.

Two of my eBay items sold for great prices yesterday although one hasnt paid yet. The third item didn't sell. I think I'll put them on Facebook.

My NPB from last week has paid after I started a claim against her. Se hasn't messaged me to apologise or explain, it's so rude. I invoiced after the auction and then messaged her after 3 days with a reminder. Nothing from her so I opened the case and then she waited until the last minute to pay. She'll probably low star me or claim it didn't arrive now so I'll have to send recorded.

Anyway the weather is still great here! I hope it lasts until my days off. HM chicken curry for tea tonight. I'm using a Lorraine pascale recipe. I love her recipes as she doesn't use lots of expensive or elusive ingredients.

Oh my Hilly where the hell are you expected to rustle up £11K???? I hope DD can sort it out xx

Weekend at home pottering about. Even made some twinks whilst watching the marathon so feeling like a domestic goddess today :rotfl:

Sitting writing my to do list for today and for the rest of the week. I've missed my lists, I do better when I write stuff down as I less likely to [STRIKE]conveniently ignore[/STRIKE] forget what needs doing

Fast day today so just soup and salad stuff for lunch and dinner.

Nowt else to report, sun trying to shine so that can't be a bad thing :)

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day everyone :)

  • Morning all...

I've decided to - you know...rejoin as things are going to be tight for a while! And I love the morning chats here!

So a lazy morning this morning, though I'm at work for four hours today. It's a long week with two long days...so best I enjoy my short day today!

Puppy is curled up next to me snoozing..and she is finally sleeping through the night! and I'm looking forward to perusing the forums figuring out how to live on £10-£15 for the next couple of weeks!

Hilstep...if you pay out Social Services will just say that you are clearly in a position to fund it. I'd speak with his doctor, and get them to write a letter saying they feel it would not be in his best interest for him to move, and then keep on about the disruption in his life, best interests, person centred planning and how if he had a choice he would stay and so essentially everyone needs to pull finger and make that happen... etc.
