7 hour delayed flight with KLM

So today I finally managed to land in Amsterdam from Narita airport Tokyo, my flight was originally at 10:30am but it was first delayed 2 hours for maintenance, which lead to my connecting flight to London being too early, I got rescheduled to Paris at a later time with another connection to London.

Boarding was half an hour late and then we all got escorted off the plane due to an oil leak, the problem was finally solved at 3:30pm and we began boarding around 4pm. Already the aircraft is 5:30hours late.

We began to warm up for take off and got pulled into another gate due to some coolers not indicating as working so the flight was further delayed.

We finally took off for our 11 hour flight at around 5:30pm, meaning we recently landed in a closed airport and have to stay overnight, where we depart tomorrow for London at 3pm.

Not only has our time been wasted but both me and another are missing work tomorrow due to the delays and we also have no transport arranged anymore from London.

I purchased these flights from Expedia with 3 people, so the cost was 3 times higher (I payed for 3)

How would I go about claiming compensation? And how are KLM with this sort of thing because 7 hours worth of delays is absolutely ridiculous.
