I am planning to buy Samsung S4 phone, and then get PAYG sim card.

I am a low user but would like to have a Samsung S4 phone. Can anyone advise if it is better than going for contract.

Any sim card would be good for my case?

It really depends on your usage.

You can go with ovivo who give you 150 mins/200 texts and 400mb data every month without you having to top up. (so it's basically free allowances)

But why would you pay £570 for the S4 when you could buy phones that do the same for under £250. Hell even under £150.

Have a quick check on uswitch.
The most reasonable plan for low usage would be
    mobilephonesdirect.co.uk
    £20.50 x 24 months + £110 phone on Orange
100 mins, unlimited txt, 500MB internet
    Total £602

    Amazon selling it at £580

If you classify your usage as low, you will end up having a far higher value phone than you require. I would suggest perhaps looking at the Galaxy S3. It's still a fantastic phone, and from what I've read, the S4 is not as all-singing and all-dancing as one would expect.

    Thanks Guys,

I definitely get the S4 mobile. Now, I need to choose the PAYG sim card. Any recommended network for this. How about the tesco mobile?

    What's your usage?

If it's under what i said above (150mins/texts/400mb data)
Then go with Ovivo who are FREE. Why would you pay tesco mobile when you can get it for FREE.

My usage is under 500 min, no much text needed, but at least 500mb or 1gb data. Dont think Ovivo is for me.

Also remember that the £20.50 is a "variable" rate, they can (and do) raise it whenever they feel like it.

That's not a low user haha.

Then why not get the phone on contract. T-mobile are doing
    500 Mins
    unl texts & Data
    £26pm + £95 upfront = £720 over 2 years
    http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/

With usage like that you're going to at least be paying £10pm for a sim only with either Tesco/Virgin/Giff Gaff (250 mins/unl texts/1GB Data)

    So £570 + (£10x24) = £810 over 2 years theoretically.

    No they can't.

-They can't raise it whenever they feel like
    -It's not variable rate.

They can raise it by RPI once in a 12 month period.

If you're like me who only uses about 100 to 200 mins a month texts occasionally surfs the internet then topping up £10 on giffgaff would be ideal. However 3uk does a month rolling sim deal not sure if it's been updated since the last time I checked but it costs roughly £12.90 200 mins 5000 txts and all you can eat data ideal for the samsung galaxy s4.

P.S I've ordered my sim free 4g edition from carphonewarehouse can't wait to receive it this weekend!
