Eviction / Balliff - Urgent advice needed

Some specifics - I have just seen the documents:
* Is this mortgage arrears, or bankrupcy?
Mortgage arrears of £2170 on a £47,000 mortgage
If it makes any difference, this is about 33% equity of value
* How long-standing/large are any arreras?
As above. They've been in difficulty for some time.
* what process has already taken place?
County Court Order. Fully stamped - local court.
* were they court bailiffs, or private bailiffs?
County Court Bailiffs
They expect to be able to pay a lump sum to the company of 50% of the claim and stop this action. Can they? (yes they do have the money to do this now)
They also have a form from the court to "appeal" (?) against this order.
Additional information:
Parallel to this action by the finance company, there is a referenced paper trail of a PPI claim AGAINST the same company, where they made PPI a condition of issuing the mortgage at the outset. Yet, as a self-employed person, this PPI policy could never have paid out. The finance company accepted this in July 2012, but have still not paid out. About £7000 is due. I've seen correspondence to back this all up.

If you have other friends in rented or mortgaged property, your mind can be at rest that you can get them the correct advice. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
I will check developments and relay this advice as soon as I get home.
One distinct difficulty is the chaotic nature of the files in the house. Things are mixed up, papers separated, misplaced .. one item is on a shelf, another on a chair, yet another in a file. Also as a neigbour and not a professional it's hard to say, "Well, HAVE you replied to this? When? Show me the reply? WHY haven't you done this ....?
I am not out of my depth as such (if this were me I'd be covering it all), but I am finding the whole process is skating on thin ice: one minute we have hot tears, the next it's faintly hostile when questioned. Yet, we were specifically asked to help.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission.
