help needed for switch 2 broadband!!

Options
At the moment, I am paying £15.99 per month with Bt for dial up connection. I know I can do better !!!

So I want to swop to broadband, but my main concern is that if I dont stay with Bt (Tiscali seems best?) that I'll loose the e-mail addresses & I dont want to do that. Is there a way around it? How do i cancel contract with bt (e-mail or in writing with notice?)

Knowing hardly anything about computers, is it easy to swop? Do I do it myself, with step by step instructions? or does a fit bloke come around and do it for me ??

Help !!!

just tell Bt that you are dropping to PAYG and want to keep the email address, you just need to dial in once every 90 days ( you can keep the dial - up modem in the pc) thats what i do to keep the email address

it is easy to do, you plug in the broadband modem to the pc , it asks for the CD that comes with it to be inserted then off it goes. The booklet that comes with it all tells you what to put in the log-on box and there you are.

There is a thread elsewhere on here about Tiscali, i'd read peoples posts before signing up,

there is also a thread about cheapest Broadband provider that you may wish to look at

    found this on cancelling Btinternet

[font=Arial, Helvetica]If you're looking to close your account, call the Customer Relation Team on 0800 085 2819 to arrange this. If it's a Pay-as-you-go account, you don't need to cancel (as you're not paying anything anyway), but if you wish to cancel, the number is 0870-241 4567.
If you're looking for an alternative, consider Tiscali, or see our Internet page.

Thanks but another question now !
I see with a lot of providers that I can use 1 or 2 gbs per month. How much is this to a novice?
We use computer daily (check e-mail, view sites etc) but no downloading videos or music, is this enough or will i need more !!!
