Contacting Tesco Mobile!

Am I just paranoid? or is anyone else having problems in trying to contact Tesco Mobile to initiate the end of my current contract when its initially agreed two year life cycle matures next month? Telephones don't get answered, e-mails not acknowledged. Should I send my details registered to the CEO? Contact the regulator? Does anyone have similar recent experience with this issue, your assistance would be most appreciated. WW.

No problems for me a couple months back, I wanted to cancel and get my PAC so I could take my number elsewhere. I called the usual Tesco support and went to the option to leave and they asked why I was leaving (I said my company was putting my number onto their corporate account) and they said fair enough, no haggling and 3 mins later I had cancelled and got my PAC.

I've found on several occasions that if you tell them your company is paying for your mobile then they hardly bother trying to keep you with special deals etc.

I would be careful. When you leave your employer you could find that you have no right to "your" number back as it is attached to its account.

Dialling 4455 from your mobi and following the prompts has always got me through.

As they know your a "lost" cause, your number will soon be eaten up by a corporate account and they can't really do anything to make you stay.
  • Thanks for all of your replies, it must be me then. When I went into the store which activated my account they just gave me a number and passed me on. I have been trying 4455 since Wednesday last and sending e-mails. In fact I am left with 50-60 minutes for the next two weeks. Is 4455 a free number? Thanks again folks, it's really appreciated, at least now I know that somebody is listening, WW.

My DH who was on Tesco PAYG was in hospital recently. We decided to take out a contract with Talkmobile and used the live chat facility to ask for the PAC. It took about 5 minutes and I was given the PAC number.
  • Hi all, thanks again for all your pointers in reply to this frustrated post. In light of previous positive replies I did try and phone 4455 earlier only to find that their customer care team (4455) shuts at 6pm on a Sunday. It's official, I'm definitely jinxed on this one, WW.:rotfl:

It's a lie, I don't really get my number moved into a corporate account, I just tell the network that I want to leave that story so they don't bother trying to retain me! otherwise they spend 20 mins trying to give a better deal , desperate to keep you as a customer.

yes, that's exactly why I tell Tesco (or whoever) that my number is moving to another provider that my employer pays for....

apologies if my original post wasn't clear.

  • :jI phoned customer care team this evening, got my PUK, arranged unblocking of my phone in 4-5 mins. Thanks :TSpannerzone, the old corporate ploy worked a treat! I just don't know why this was such a hassle in the first place. I tried contacting virtually every e-mail address online for tesco I could find. The only answer I got was from Tesco Ireland! Thanks again for all your support fellow forumites. Big thanks!
