Peugeot Just add fuel offered me a deal, please advise
Options
Hi all,
I am 29 years old with 3 years driving experience and with 0 No claim bonus, I've seen this Peugeot deal online and decided to check it out, went for the cheapest option ever Peugeot 107 3 door, talk to the sales assistand and he offered me the following:
I pay £1000 deposit + give my car to them(MG ZR 1.4 2004) and then pay £131 a month , but then don't give me insurance which will cost me £300 upfront then £94 a month + I can get £15 a month service from them
or
I pay £2000 deposit + my car and pay £101 a month, the rest is the same
it's not very cheap , but I am tired being second driver on my dad's cars, want to earn my NCB..... but ios there a better option like this nowadays? please advise as I cannot pay for a brand new car by cash

Is there a reason you need to get rid of the ZR, or do you just fancy a new car? If the ZR is ok, why not bite the bullet and insure it yourself for a year or 2 and build up some no claims of your own? providing you don't have any claims of course!
I thought the just add fuel deal included insurance?0 -

ZR has an engine problem which is very expensive to fix so need to get read of it anyway, if I insure myself as first driver on the car it will cost me about £300 a month, the deal includes insurance only if you hjave 2 years of NCB0 -

If it's your car, who is insuring it? If you aren't down as the main driver then you are breaking the law by fronting.
Had you insured it yourself from the start, you'd have NCB in your own right now and wouldn't need to be looking at these ridiculously expensive "deals".Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
That's what I thought???
It's meant to be £149/ month including insurance.
Sounds like what you're being offered isn't the JAF deal.
should I go to other dealers to see what they can offer? or there shouyldn't be anything better then that? for a brawn new 1 litre good looking car?0 -
Ah, just cross posted with your second post.
What are your aims? Do you actually want a "new" new car, or just a car?
With the Peugeot lease you'll be paying a premium for a new car.
And a premium for the finance.
And you're not getting particularly cheap insurance.
Why not get a used (low insurance) car and insure that. Get some quotes for a group 1 car (get specs and reg numbers off Autotrader) and see what that would cost you to insure.0 -

I am registered as second driver on my dad's car and drive it time to time0 -

I want a newish good looking car which will not break everytime and + I am interested in starting earning no claim bonus0 -

Over the 3 year period of the deal, the first option will cost you a total of £5716 (1000 + 36*131) whilst the second one costs you £5636 (2000 + 36*101). So if you can afford to pay £2000 up front this is the slightly better deal, being £80 cheaper (which is much more than the interest you could earn on the extra £1000).
Possibly I'm being thick, but I have no idea what you mean by:+ I can get £15 a month service from them
If I was in your position and liked the car then I'd be looking at purchasing a second hand Peugeot 107 (or the essentially identical Citroen C1).0 -
