Most commonly undervalued items?

Ok, so with the intention of re-selling what you buy at car boots, what do you tend to find is the most commonly unvalued items you find? And vice versa, what can u rarely get for cheap?
From my own experience, I tend to find lego is the worst kept secret, as no one wants to sell it for cheap.( And a lot of people mix it up with megablocks to make it look like you're buying more than you are)

    Used toothbrushes.

These fetch megamoney on ebay, not openly advertised though, it's a fetish thing.

Buy as many as you can.

  • Nylon men's shirts (though I tend to find these in charity shops rather than car boot sales). The charity shop staff think they're just old tat and price them accordingly, but they can make decent money on eBay, e.g. I bought one for 99p and sold it for £36.
The opposite applies to Rupert annuals and Wedgwood blue jasper ware, which were worth a few quid years ago but nowadays sell for peanuts on eBay, but the car boot sellers still price them as "collectables".

For real? Or is that a wind up?

I've found the most undervalued selling prices are identified by a 'how', rather than a 'what'... how not to sell, that is...

Poor, blurry photos and brief descriptions will undermine any auction listing. On the other hand, when I've realised what is on offer, behind the veil of an awful listing, I've managed to pick up a few bargains, over the years.

Not a lot any more with the new royal mail postage charges unless it will go as a small parcel it might not be worth taking a risk as the post charges sellers will have to pay now puts people off bidding. I have stopped looking on ebay since the price rises.

That made me laugh so much. I can just imagine people asking "got any old toothbrushes luv" at every stall in a car boot instead of the usual "got any jewellery"......:rotfl:

Straight to the point but why would anyone broadcast on the internet what they buy to sell on? I buy loads but i'm not saying what!

I think I'd buy a clockwork wind up toothbrush, used or not.
  • I would challenge the very notion of "undervalue". Everything has a price at a particular time in a particular place.
In order to know whats "undervalued" you need to know what you can resell it for and that usually requires specialist knowledge or long experience. Both take time (as in experince or research) and often money (in losses or the cost of books, memberships). There are no short cuts.
I would advise you specialise in particular things or types of thing as nobody can know the "true value" of everything.
I maintain that you can find a bargain anywhere if you look hard enough.

I have got tons of bargains from car boots but equally I have been to many where I come away empty handed or have bought stuff which is unsellable on Ebay or just broke-even or ended up giving away to the charity shop. That's the cost of experience.
