Generic iphone 5 Cable and Adaptor

Just after the collective wisdom of all the iphone 5 owning MSE users!

My wife has just upgraded to an iphone 5 and it would be useful to obtain a second charging cable and possibly an adaptor (30 pin to lightning).

Obviously she's not willing to pay the exorbitant prices that Apple charge so I just wanted to know if anyone has bought any generic copies and whether they were either very good or particularly bad and where they were purchased, how much etc.

Thanks in advance

I've had terrible problems with "accessory not compatable" with cheap copies and not charging the iphone, solved by sourcing original cables and charger plugs from someone on ebay with loads of good feedback

My stepkids' iphone5 cables have both stopped working recently (of course they didn't damage them........) - like you I didn't want to pay £15 each so took a chance on 2 of these for £7.50 a pair - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321093544366?var=510111519205&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Apart from the slightly naff glow-in-the-dark smiley face, so far so good - both working for charging and syncing.

Feedback at 100% is good. I spent a good hour looking at ebay this afternoon and didn't see this listing at all. Thanks very much.

I've bought 4 of these, £2.99 each with a USB car adapter included.

Very good quality, I'm unable to tell the difference from the original one.

I remain unconvinced - I bought and extended length cable for my 5 and it was DoA. On complaining, they sent a replacement. After 2 weeks use it is now operating intermittently.

A closer look at the plug reveals it is simply pressed metal and vastly inferior to the OEM one supplied by Apple.

At the moment, it looks as though not all leads ARE alike and you get what you pay for.

I read a good article about using copy lightning adaptors on a techno website. They say Apple have a 'chip' in their adaptors that no-one can copy?

    No one?
Or is it that it has not yet been worth anybody who is able to do so, to do so?
