I renewed my car insurance with my Broker (Open & Direct) yesterday, today i receive a letter which was addressed to me thanking me for renewing my car insurance.

However after a one page letter there is another letter for another customer with his name, address, policy documents. My policy documents are missing so I'm unsure whether they have went to the other customer or missing.

They are closed until Monday so looking some advice on how best to sort this out. I'm quite annoyed that my details are floating about somewhere.

1) Should I contact the other customer to inform them what has happened in case that try to cover it up and don't inform him

2) Should I log the complaint with my local branch or their head office(part of Swinton Group Ltd)

Thanks

Swinton get lots of complaints so finding the correct complaint procedure should be a doddle! Google swinton insurance complaints dept. or check your policy wording which will set out how to complain.

If your details are in someone elses hands theres not a lot you can do about it.

You can send the wrongly sent letter to the correct address, bin it, or return to sender, your call.

Thanks for your advice. I think I'll send the letter on to the person with a quick note so they know what's going on and have a look at the complaints.

Ahh Swinton... They sent me insurance papers with phone numbers, bank details, Job titles etc.

The person used to live at the other end of the road, But moved away and the insurance was for the new house.

So not just a wrong number in the address, House numbers totally different and i am not insured with them either.

They were rather puzzled and quite angry when i phoned them and said i have all their personal details.
