Now we know its a gift, the OP did not say anything about giving it to mum at all in the first post.

If all details are given in the first place correct advice follows.

If proper details are not given, any advice given is meaningless. So its a waste of everybodys time.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Many ISAs - probably all - have something in the T&Cs that they must be funded by the account holder from their own (or a joint) bank account. A monthly standing order from you would breach this condition and therefore (if detected) would nullify its ISA status. Would it be detected? Pass. It's detectible if anyone should choose to investigate in detail but they might not choose to.

If the standing order is from your account to a normal account of your mothers and she arranges a standing order on to the ISA - no problem.

Your assumptions led the thread down this path - no-one else's. The second response to my original message didn't contain these assumptions at all.
I find it rather depressing that you assumed that my actions, and hence my query, was an indication that I was a cheat and a fraud rather than a son trying to look after his elderly mum. That assumption comes your mindset, not mine.
As for it being a waste of time - not at all. A number of people were able to give sensible responses which have answered my initial query entirely and to my complete satisfaction.
