ROFL.... Riders should pick it up. Can you imagine the size of the "horsie bags" I don't think the op has thought it through. Many riders are young and don't drive to start off with so would be completly impracticle to drive round their "route" and pick it up, then there's the saftey issue! People stood in middle of the road with a shovel picking up s**t! Op would have to weave round these on his moped and sooner or later someone would get hit by a vehicle and killed.

Farmers treking in and out of fields dragging a huge amount of mud across the road is far worse, but it's part of rural semi/rural life. Do I go demanding the farmer cleans it up in the evening when its dark after his days work? No - I slow down and drive carefully.

I really can't see the issue, when my horse has a poo I have people running out with shovels "b4 anyone else takes it" to put on their roses. People then come with trailers and collect it from my stables and are gratefull of s**t lol.

Ps iv had horse poop all over my hands many a time, ate my sandwiches and never had any problems - yummy! I actually like the smell of horse poo. Humans/dogs on the other hand I always "double glove" b4 I touch their s**t

Next thing OP will be complaining because the rider dismounted to clear up the poo, the horse spooked and then trampled his petunias :(

How come people get fined for dropping biodegradable litter like banana skins, but these horse riders can selfishly leave steaming piles of crap wherever they want. I think a fixed penalty fine would be in order!

Seriously? I've heard it all now :rotfl:

As a horse rider I can honestly say I find this thread and the OP very amusing, however I will not be carrying a bag over my shoulder to collect my horses poo when we are out hacking and I will not be stopping at the request of some PCSO to give me a fine for something I cannot control! :T

I fear your rant would have been better written and then deleted OP.

I can see this from both group's points of view. The OP rides a motorbike and coming around a corner, even at slow speed, and hitting a pile of horse dung could result in losing grip and that's the bike and rider rubber side up.

However, I ride a motorbike and on rural roads you're constantly fighting battles with the mud left on roads by tractors, slicks of diesel from leaky trucks and so forth.

I think that a polite request to the riding school to consider varying the route so that the horse muck does not pile up day after day after day is quite reasonable. If it were a motorcycle training school that were using the same estate for training day after day they'd soon find a few complaints and would damn well have to react to them so it's only fair that both parties try to find a compromise.

However, there's not much to be done other than try to be reasonable and do what you can to tolerate each other's needs.
