Billmoniter Suggests Switching
Can anyone tell me what the Orange and the Tesco signals are like in Ireland – North and South.
I have a two year contract with Vodafone on two mobiles, the contract is due to end mid June.
According to billmonitor it tells me that over the last three months the average bill on one of the phones with Vodafone was £39.32, my sisters, and by switching to Orange and upgrading to a Galaxy s 3 her bill could be reduced to £31.78! Quite a saving in anybody's book and I don't even think my sister would be interested in upgrading she's quite happy with the phone she has. If she didn't want to upgrade then she'd could reduce that to £17.29 a month by going with Tesco.
On the other phone, mine, the average bill was £30.61 and by switching and upgrading to Galaxy s 3, I would have a projected monthly bill of £25.88! Again quite a substantial saving.
Of course there wouldn’t be much sense in switching to Orange/Tesco if the signal was poor.

Well before you rush into changing on the suggestion of that site, do your homework, as I pay £21 month for my O2 and use 750txt 50mms >1gb data, however the site suggests I would be better off on another simplicity that costs me £5 per month more.0

Oh I agree with you 100 percent, my contract doesn't end to June and I know these things change rapidly.Well before you rush into changing on the suggestion of that site, do your homework.
I think I was just surprised at how much of a difference there could be in contracts and the site is a good starting point it at least gives you something to haggle with.
Also as, mentioned, I'd want to be sure I was getting good coverage0 -
Has anyone else had a problem whereby billmonitor.com cannot acces your mobile account despite you giving them the correct username and password?
I am currently a Talkmobile customer and think there are better deals for me out there so i was interested in using the site. Unfortunately, they keep telling me the details are wrong.
Frustrating!:mad:0 -
Don't also assume that 24 month contracts are the only way to go (I am half through one and will never do it again). They are imo very restrictive and also in these uncertain times pretty 'dangerous' in the sense that you are committed to paying that monthly fee for 2 years even if the worst happens and you lose your job etc.
My son bought the superb Nexus 4 outright for £290 incl delivery direct from Google. Totally unlocked so your options for simming it up are endless. There are sooo many superb SIM only deals out there (many of them requiring only a 30 day commitment). As he requires lots of fast data and also the ability to tether he went with The One Plan from Three - truly unlimited data, unlimited tethering, 2000 minutes, 5000 texts and 5000 three to three minutes for £18/mth and only a 30 day commitment giving him total flexibility to change quickly. If you work out the total cost of this combination of phone and sim deal over 24 months it works out at £30/mth. Superb deal given the short commitment.
Of course, if you don't have my son's lofty requirements there are SIM only deals starting from NOWT! Just a thought.0 -

If you have a UK contract then Ireland (rather than Northern Ireland) will usually be classed as roaming oversea's.
The problem arises if you are near the border, you may be in Northern Ireland but be using a Ireland signal so roaming, or be on a UK signal so on the home network where use is inclusive.
Obviously roaming costs more so Bill Monitor may not be reliable as depending on where you are and signal strengths depends if you'll be on a UK or Irish network. Different networks will have towers in different places so your bill could vary wildly.0 -
Billmonitor have just come back to say they do not support Talkmobile. Not helpful but there you go.
I'll have to try something else but I'm pretty sure there's a better value tariff out there with unlimited Internet than what I have with them.
Wish me luck!0 -
Bill Monitor is the worst website i've ever used. It simply doesn't work or account for enough factors to give a good deal.0
