Martin the site says that you can apply for the Cheshire BS online, thought you should know that the site says you have to apply in branch.:(

The ISA in the MSE article refers to the Cheshire BS's ISA Saver (issue3)
Access: Post only. Applications online/phone
According to the Cheshire BS's own website
"Please note you can only subscribe to one cash ISA per tax year. This ISA cannot be opened in branch."0 -
Applied for mine online last week, posted the form Saturday and got a text from Halifax asking why I was transfering my Isa
So no problem online0
