when she is at home on school holidays and weekends i have yo spend an hour a time with the eye drops as i have to dress her eye firstly which takes around 20mins then to input 3 seperate drops at school they dont dress her eye as this would take alot of time up she misses her morning and afternoon breaks.

Why can the school do it in twenty minutes, yet it takes you an hour? If they can do it without dressing her eye, is it not possible for you to do the same?

I should think the school probably cut corners for ease.

What supportive evidence did you send with your application OP?

I bathe my children........and give 1 of them an inhaler morning and night......should I claim? It doesn't cost me anything but because I have to spent a bit of additional time administering an inhaler should I be getting extra money?

Not quite the same thing is it.

But is "cutting corners" still an effective way of administering the eye drops? If so, is there any reason the OP cannot use this method and hence cut down on the time it takes to do it?

    Why?
It doesn't cost her to put in eye drops just like it doesn't cost me to administer an inhaler. Both of our children have additional care needs, yet the o/p is looking for financial reward for doing it.

i can only give my opinion ....

the drops dont take an hour to administer ... it is the gap between putting the drops in that takes the time. during this time the child has no care needs over and above any other child of the same age.
i dont understand the reason that the OP has to 'fress' the childs eye, when clearly is isnt essential... as the school do not do it.

if she is blind at the bottom of one eye, this doesnt indicate extra needs ... amny people who have no sight at all in obe eye can wuite legally drive.

so the actual time taken administering the drops would be about 15 minutes total per day. not sufficient to prove care needs

I very much doubt an award of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) would be awarded in this case. Nothing stopping you getting the application pack and sending it in, but in reality I fear you have no chance.

I fear the opposite.....it appears DLA is awarded to almost anyone who applies these days......

well at school they have a certain amount of time and if it takes me an hour a time is it fair that they yake two hours out of her school day everyday 10hours a week? i get what some of u r saying but i have to soak her eyes in water with a. hot flannel each time i have to clean inside of her lids everytime i do this not very pleasent if she could do it herself i would let her but she cant if i atop i let the bacteria grow and her eye problems get worse. if u read after i have administer the drops she has to lie down as she cannot see each and everytime i do this so yea i watch her all the time in that hour. i have 2 other kids and yea she needs more attention then they require. Luna Lady i have sent them reports which i get each and everytime so alot of them gp report as she gets seen there too and all meds etc and school report .

you didnt mention the need to soak and clean out her eyes before. just that you put drops in, this may possibky make a difference.

at 5 years old, i dont think they will accept that you have to watch iver her for the hour as she cant see. she is capable of sitting without being forcrd, especially oif for that time she cant see.
