Item back up for auction

I placed a bid on an item, I didn't win the item, under Bids placed all bidders are "Private listing"

Low and behold, exactly the same item has appeared again up for auction, I'm new to bidding, therefore, I'm curious, is this allowed?

Why wouldn't it be allowed? Maybe the winner didn't pay for the item or maybe the seller has more than one copy to sell.

As JSparte says unless you were privy to the outcome of the payment being received and everything then you can't know what happened. If a seller gets a non payer we are not banned from relisting it.

Seller may have had more than one to sell. I've bought the same second hand item at different times from the same seller 10 days apart.

That reminds me, last week I picked up yet another 'rare and unique' item at a house clearance sale. I already have around 3 in stock and other sellers sell these are unique items that rarely ever come onto the market. So I drip feed mine out one at a time

Could this be a shill bidder who didn't get as much as they were hoping for in the auction, so placed a shill bid to win (or shill bid won by mistake), then relisted hoping to get a higher price second time round?

It say's on the description, re-listed due to no paying bidder.

It was re-listed within 1 hour of the auction closing

Definitely sounds like a shill bidder to me. If it was a NPB it would take at least 4 days and they could have made a second chance offer.

Or seller has come across a time waster, like I did a few weeks back who waits to win auction and then emails saying 'please cancel my bid, I can't afford it now- sorry for any inconvenience'. I NPBd them, but many sellers are too afraid to do that and would allow a mutual and then immediately relist.
