Check In to Rented Property Q

LA has asked if we want to attend an inventory clerk check-in the day before our Tenancy is due to start. Is it best to walk round with them? Or better to wait for keys and then take pics, record anything subsequently noticed that is wrong or not noted on the inventory, then signing and sending back to LA?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Best to go round with the inventory clerk. We spotted a lot of things that were missed, and she didn't dispute anything. Take photo's too.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

  • Without question, you need to be there. You will want to make sure that certain things are noted and documented before you take on the tenancy so that when you leave you do not get held responsible for things that were already there (such as poor paintwork, scuffs and stains).

    Thanks for replies.

The reason I ask is that current LL told us on arrival that inventory clerk couldn't make it (was sick apparently ;)) and just handed us an old inventory that seemed photocopied many times. We then were able to take our time to look carefully and write the many things that were broken, not working, damaged etc and sign subject to these things (plus took loads of photos). But I see your points saying that we should be there on the day! Thanks again.
