N95 or go for the SE K810i
Options
Hi, I have got a Nokia N95 now I think it is a fantastic phone but I could easily stick it on ebay and make some serious cash.
I have been a SE guy for the last few years and really do like the new K810i.
I have just renewed my contract with 02 and they are sending me a SE W880i as my tariff wouldn't allow a K810i this isnt a problem as I can sell it on ebay and get the K810i with the money I make.
Basically what I'm trying to say although a little long winded is what would you do, go for the k810i or stick with the N95?

Really depends on what you want. If you like to have your phone with all the bugs ironed out, go for the k810i. Being a modified k800, SE have sorted out all the previous issues and created a stable trendy phone.
In my opinion, the Nokia n95 is a chunky beast, very versatile yet fragile. Battery life is not very good, so if you use your phone a lot with talking and texting, stick with the K810i. The n95 is a guaranteed everyday charge in the night.0 -
Thanks I really had my heart set on the K810i until I got hold of the N95. After having just a little play with it today you can tell it really is a cracking phone.
But I think i'll go for my 1st choice and the SE.
Thanks, for the advice.

Thats my choice too, been offered the N95 and k810 on very very similar deals. Like you Pete I've been a SE fan for the last 5 years or so - the Nokias a re just nowehre near as good imho. I've been wooed by the N95's bells and whistles ie the sat navand the wi fi - but on comapring the there isnt really that much difference.
The nokia has a 5mp camera - SE 3.2mp
Nokia - 16 million colour screen - SE 252k
Nokia is quad band - SE is tri
The SE has a longer battery life and a more stable software set imho.
To me nokia seem to be like Windows - release their gadgets and let the users pay to find he bugs!
I'm thinking I'll stick with the SE.I have no more money to give - all you companies out there - do your worst - I give in!!0 -
There seem to be a lot of reports of the N95 software being very buggy.Stompa0

I got my N95 this week and am very happy with it. On the latest firmware and not had many buggy issues yet. I would stick with the N95 if you are going to makw use of it's unique features (i.e. built in GPS).They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0

I have had 4 n95 replacements so far, and had to create a 5th one. I am getting quite fed up of this, why can't Nokia come out with solid handsets like SE.
O2 rep said I could order different replacement handset-k810i in the meantime, and when the n95 is back in stock within 2 weeks, I could return the k810i if I didn't like it for the n95, is this possible?
She told me ordering a different handset would mean I had the 14-day return period again and hence the ability to exchange it for the n95 when they have it, but I am skeptical about this, can anyone confirm if this is allowed?0 -
I have an N95 since launch, it is not locked to any Network and hence doesn't have any of the Service Provider S/W on it. Just upgraded the firmware to Ver 11.0.0.26 dates 17/04/07 and to date haven't had any problems and to be fair only had a couple of hangs on the previous version of firmware.Cheers

Now I'm confued - so much conflicting information re the N95 - I may just bit the bullet and order it - a 12 month contract isn't really that long for a total gagdeteer to wait is it............... lolI have no more money to give - all you companies out there - do your worst - I give in!!0

Well I've got a N95 and a K800i (which is essentially the same as the K810i but with last years casing) and the K800i very rarely get used these days.
Once you get used to the large screen on the N95 there's no going back - it's brilliant for the surfing, reading ebooks, showing off photos, playing videos and mapping your route via gps.
The N95's camera gives better quality results than the K800i and unlike some I don't find it slow to use - mine starts up and autofocuses almost as well as my Canon digicam (something else that is no longer used since I got the N95). The K800i has a zeon flash however so is better for low light pics.
The video on the N95 is awesome - much, much, much better than the K800i and with the TV out facillity it's great for taking home movies and showing them off to friends and family.
I find the music player to be excellent - I can create playlists, seach by album, artist, song etc and refine the seach using the keypad. Paired with a set of bluetooth headphones the N95 takes the mobile music experience to a new level.
Internal GPS - well the K800i doesn't have it - nor does any other phone currently available except the N95. Who needs it - no-one - not until they do need it that is! The beauty of it is that while most people like to travel light and leave what they don't think they'll need (tom tom & gps receiver) at home they will usually take their mobile with them - no more getting lost if they have the N95 - - of course the downside is no more excuses like "sorry dear I took a wrong turn" when you're late getting home to find your wife burning your dinner!
One major thing missing from the K800i and K810i is WiFi - for any serious surfer this is an absolute must - forget about ridiculous data charges or caps, just hook up to a WiFi and surf fast for free.
Sizewise there's not much in it - neither phone is going to win any prizes for being pocketable - one is a little wider and the other a little shorter and both are about the same weight. The K800i may be a little better in the trouser pocket but the N95 wins in the shirt pocket as it does not flop over to one side like the K800i.
Battery life - I charge mine every night and it'll last me thoughout the day if doing a bit of everything. I did try to see how long it would last if I used the N95 used purely as a phone - I switched it to 2G, switched off bluetooth and WiFi scanning and for 2 1/2 days didn't use gps, camera, music player or surf the web but then got bored and fired up 3G and the internet. I had made and received several short phone calls and a couple of texts in the 2 1/2 days and the battery still had a couple of bars left. In my opinion the N95's battery is about as good as the K800i it's just people tend to make more use of the features the N95 has on offer.
Go to any forum and you will see complaints about the N95 however there must be thousands in use by now and as always users that have problems will write into the forums to complain whereas most users who don't have a problem will not write in to say that they do not have a problem!
My personal order of usefulness of the N95's features are > phone/text, internal gps, internet, WiFi, music player, video camera, still camera, TV out.
If you want a great camera phone go with the K810i
If you want a great camera phone + everything else go with the N950 -
Wow Login_details you should be a Nokia salesman!!! Now you have given me a dilema!
The N95 on ebay now, just took delivery of a W880i today which I'm planning on selling. But seriously thinking of pulling the Nokia off ebay and keeping it now.
If only I could get it unlocked, can it be done yet?
