Employment is still up 488,000 according to the ONS over last year, so I'm not going to worry just yet.

So yet another chapter is completed in the journey of self discovery then Generali....How about working on your economic literacy next.....just a suggestion like!

I think the December Labour Market Statistics bulletin is more backward looking than the piece quoted in the OP.

More recently there has been an increase in both employment and unemployment suggesting an expansion of the workforce, perhaps as a result of the measures taken to restrict access to benefits? However I think the jury is still out on whether the economy has weakened following the Olympics to the extent that employment growth will stall or even go into reverse.

However I am deeply uncomfortable that some commentators clearly find their natural compassion for those affected out weighed by their personal delight that the economy may be moving in a way that supports their own political views?

Whatever one's political persausion, how many would rather see George Osbourne proved right with falling unemployment and growth (even if this increases the chances of a Tory election victory) rather than proved wrong through unemployment and suffering which no doubt boosts Labour's chances? You need to be pretty far to the 'politcial hack' side of the norm for your political feelings to outweigh your social ones?
    I think....

Didn't Winston Churchill try to ban the Mirror during WW2 ?

    Shame he failed

    Then it survived Maxwell

Maybe DLW and his constant drivelling nonsense will be the one to finally end their misery

My point was that the last time the OP made a similar claim, when the stats came out (s)he was shown to have been rather alarmist.

I think there are a lot of people (nothing like a majority of Labour voters let alone the country) that would rather see the Tories unelectable than see the UK in a better place. I think that there are some people in prominent positions in the BBC that feel able to air those views despite that being against the rules.

Think you will will find that the demograohic of the average Mail reader is far superior to the average Mirror or Sun reader.

Dont know about the mirror, but the sun has better demographics than perhaps you would expect. It has ended up as a "guilty pleasure" for many.
