The shock unemployment blow to Cameron and Osborne was actually predicted before Christmas - and experts are warning that the failing economy means that it can't sustain employment oir create any growth in jobs and that we should all prepare for rising unemployment as lack of demand causes layoffs and redundancies. This will increase pressure on Cameron to do something quickly to put some life into the economy (those within his own party may see that as being getting rid of Osborne as this might give the impression of doing something rather than nothing! particularly after the IMF and the new BOE governor have criticised his Plan A.) Many are saying that refusing to change the strategy is economically suicidal - but what would be the first things we could do to boost sales and jobs?

How many Mirror readers were intrigued enough by the story to dig out December 2012's labour market stats and then said to their mate "this story's rubbish - it completely ignores the fact that jobs are being created in the economy".

The problem we have is that people who read the Mirror have the vote.

A typo would be my guess. If you look down at the keyboard you'll find the o and p keys are next to each other. Perhaps the poster meant to type the word demographic.

Generally people of limited intelligence find it harder to make the leap to fill gaps when things aren't made explicit IME. Perhaps you're just tired.

Apart from the FT when I'm going through an airport I don't really read any of them.

The intent of most newspapers is to pick sides rather than inform. I don't know why people buy them or why they get reviewed on TV/ Radio. Newspaper reviews are as irrelevant as 'thought for the day'.

I actively avoid the DM but wouldn't be surprised to learn that the average DM reader was more intelligent and better educated than the average Mirror reader. I suspect people aren't drawn to the Mirror because they are unintelligent but, rather, start to lose brain cells once they start reading it.

Mad Magazine gives one a much more balanced view.
