I look at Tesco thru my shoppers eyes via my local store. They aren't getting things quite right (expanded my store and increased lines yet during the process they stopped selling 4/5 lines I bought every week of which they have restored 1) but they are trying.

One thing that makes me slightly uneasy is that I don't really like the Tesco experience that much. Their fresh stuff is pretty poor IMO cf. Morrisons, and our local store, a small one, was always out of something or other I'd gone in for, so I haven't been there for a while.

I did buy it as an investment but I probably will offload sooner rather than later - it's against my principles to pick individual stocks, and I'm trying to give it up!

Any guesses as to what the SP will level out at? I think its still a stable business which is huge and it will regroup and strengthen its position in its home market.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I was lucky to sell before the drop, around 340 would be my buy back price.

I am holding onto mine, I bought them years ago at £1.61, but certainly hope they don't go down to that level again:eek:
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

Here are 3 guesses for you:

    - 10p
    - 500p

    42.

    Hope that helps.

Don't understand the "I was lucky" thing. This is not like Bradford & Bingley, which crashed 95% almost overnight (as I know to my cost).

TSCO is down 0.7% today, and yep, over 5% over the last week. But it's up around 15% over the last 6 months, so I have no problem with the recent dip. Moreover, it pays a very healthy dividend, rather more than I would get in the best savings account.

Personally, I think Tesco is a great business and a very solid investment. Sure, it made a mess of its US venture but it will have learnt from that, and is also aware that it needs to sharpen up its UK act. Quite apart from the share price, with the dividend payment levels and reassuring dividend cover of around 2.5x, I'm very comfortable with my Tesco holdings, and may well never sell.

If the price continues its recent droop, I will very happily take the opportunity to buy some more.

I was lucky because I was looking to sell and 5% is still a chunk of money. I fancy my chances of getting back in at 340 but if I don't I have plenty of other stocks I'm interested in.

I was about to say 340 also but I hold them for a few years now. Im not thinking they are dirt cheap but generally a good work horse, less risky then many ideas.

Laterally they hold most potential to outdo rivals and abroad still in asia, only if you like those ideas would I write them for a buy.
The whole market could come down at any point now and if so I'd like Tesco
  • I'm hoping that Tesco will soon stabilize in price.
