    Sorry I think I am missing something, an alternative to Adobe Reader is either Firefox or Chrome.

    Adobe Reader is a program for reading .pdf files

    Firefox and Chrome are web browsers.

    Yes, so you can read pdf files embedded in web sites. Do Firefox and Chrome allow you to read pdf files stored on your computer? And bear in mind their embedded pdf readers are somewhat basic and cannot read all types of pdf including interactive ones with form fields.

    Chrome certainly does. Open a new blank tab, drag and drop the PDF file from Windows Explorer into the tab and it displays the PDF. :)

    I tried it with quite a complex PDF (text, images, colour, formatting, digital signatures) and it displayed the file correctly.
