:mad:There is a point, and that is that IF anyone invites an unknown tradesman into their property then it is THEIR duty to ensure the security of their property:mad:

I totally agree that tradesmen should act professionally, and just do their job, BUT the simple fact is that there are unscupulous people out there and THEREFORE the customer has a duty to THEMSELVES to ensure things are carried out in a professional manner:wall:

It is no good complaining AFTER the horse has bolted:doh:

Really??? I thought it was called reviews and word of mouth. If you are a dodgy tradesman word gets around. For instance none of my friends or family will use this company again and none of the people they know will use them either. So the DUTY is most definitely on the tradesman to behave professionally . After all they are the ones getting paid not us.

:pSo you would be prepared to leave your front door open for access at anytime, by anyone, would you, think those days are gone unfortunately:T
Get the points rather than picking on your hang ups, I HAVE AGREED that professionals SHOULD be trustworthy, UNFORTUNATELY, and this is the point you miss, NOT ALL ARE;)

As this is the case "reviews and word of mouth" DO NOT always suffice, or dont you read other posts on here about review sites:p

I could go on one right now and write a glowing review about anyone, WOULD YOU BELIEVE THAT, so dont be so guilable and accept that as a home owner YOU ALSO HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES TO YOURSELF:mad:

If something is in the way of a workman's work area then you would expect them to move them so they could do the work.
You are missing the completley missing the point. The point is discresion and professional behaviour. You go there to do a job, not interfere with other peoples lives, whatever your opinion. YOu go there do the job and go. What they do is of no concern to anybody else. Simples, unless you are a 'gosspping . you know what I saw today type' likw the old woman without a life type that likes to make other peoples business their own.

Of course I wouldn't leave my door open for anyone to access my property! What a ridiculous comparison.:p I was in the house at the same time which is why I heard him creeping about and caught him coming out of a room he shouldn't have been in. Should you have to be looking over their shoulders making sure they are doing their job. It's not always possible to be with them the whole time while they are working. What would you suggest? Employing someone to watch the plumber the whole time. Maybe then you'd need to employ someone to watch the watcher that's watching the plumber and so on. :rotfl: How far should your responsibilities as a homeowner go in this situation?

Of course you can't believe EVERY review you read but a bad review won't do your business a lot of good will it? ;) If I heard from a friend or relative that a company was untrustworthy I certainly wouldn't use them. :D
