What kind of security do you have setup - a simple wep key should stop the casual intruder

What is the make and model number of your wireless router?

In your routers setup there is a security section. Part of that will allow you to pick a wep key - its like a password for your router.

once you have it password protected anyone trying to connect to it will be asked for your wep key (password)

Your router probably supports stronger security but if its just a random neighbour piggybacking your connection it should be enough to stop them

See if this helps as it should be very similar for your model. You need to scroll down to the bottom where is shows "how easy WPA-PSK is to set-up" If you use a long random WPA-PSK key from here, you should then be secure from others using your wireless network. Do not use WEP use WPA-PSK.
