Have I been scammed?!

I had the entiltlements agency recover my ppi from barclay card for me. (stupid i know, should have done it my:mad:)
This was for ppi i was never sure i even had but thought it was worth a try as i did run up quite abit on this credit card in the past.
Any way i went through the process and it started approx jan 2012. I heard nothing for ages so i called them up and aske what was going on. they said they hadnt had a reply yet. so i called them again same answer. now it got to be 2013 probably late feb i called them again. the lady said, ohhhh didnt you receive the letter we sent out. i said no not at all. she said ok ill resend. basically they refused and we dont take it any further on thier grounds for refusual. ill send you the letter and you can take it further if you want. i said ok send me.
got the letter through and it has all thier blah blah, im guessing a standard letter they just change the name and reference of. it says i have 6 months from the date of the letter to take it further.
the date on the letter is 4 may 2012, that was 12 months ago almost!! i know i called them in novemeber so they deffo had this letter then, was it an honest mistake or is there something deeper here? would it be possible for them to take the case further, flob me off and keep the money. is there any way i can know if they, or someone, took it further?
any one had similar experiance or any advice would be much appreciated.

You haven't been "scammed", the Claims company have been remiss in not sending you a letter to tell you that you have been unsuccessful though. As six months have elapsed since the rejection, you can't now refer to FOS but the question is did you have a valid complaint in the first place?

Did you even have PPI? It's not clear from your post.

The only way you will know is to contact Barclaycard.
Get it from the claims co that they are not taking this further and that the contract is ended.

If you contact Barclaycard and they did not uphold your claim and you reject the reasons they gave for not upholding, send this to FOS and explain what happened with the claims co and see if they will take the claim on, they may not but you won't know until you try.

They must be certain there is no complaint to answer if they've dropped the case. This is the reason I asked if there was any PPI in the first place. The Claims company would have long since suggested FOS if there was still a possibility that they might get their commission.
Lots of information still missing. What was the complaint? What was the response? etc etc

You've also lost your chance to refer your complaint to the FOS if the letter was sent May 2012 [if you did have PPI]

By way of educating me: is that still true if the letter was genuinely lost in the post, and never received by the customer?

In other areas of life proof of posting is not proof of receipt. Ebay being an obvious one that occurs to me!

No, proof of posting is not proof of receipt, but it's enough to prove it was sent.

The OPs problem is complicated by the fact that they engaged a claims company, who's responsibility ti was to make the complaint. It was up to them to tell the OP the status of their complaint.

Proof that a letter was sent by first class post is usually accepted as evidence that, on the balance of probabilities, it was delivered within two working days.

    Hi thanks for the comments.
I did have PPI on the card. In Barclay cards letter they said that I have still got it on the account.
It was so long ago but i never remember agreeing to PPI or be asked if i wanted it. I think i applied for the card online at the time. i KNOW its not something i would have choosen to have.
I deffinetly called the entitlements agency in september of 2012 and they told me they hadnt heard anything back. but the letter they sent me recently was dated may 2012. Was the guy i called in september not very good at his job or i dunno?

Tell me, if im saying i never signed up to PPI isnt it barclays responsibility to provide proof of my signing up to PPI?

    Many thanks
