Combi boiler advice - complete novice

Hi, I have found out today that my SIME 102 Super deluxe combi has got so many things wrong with it that it would work out best to get a new one completely.
Presently, the heating is still working but the pilot light cuts out when trying to heat water. Luckily, we have an electric shower and cold water washing machine. (Heats water internally), so we are able to stay clean.
We've been offered a Corgi Finance (Warranty Plus?) and I am waiting on a call back with all details, but until then, could someone give advice on type of combi to get and what questions to be asking? I am a complete novice here, not a technical person and don't want to be ripped off. We can't afford to pay in one big lump as we don't have the funds after buying the house. It's a 3 bed mid terrace, 1 bathroom, 8 radiators.
Thank you all in advance :)

Who has informed you about the state of your boiler? Is it worth getting a second opinion? Don't know anything about the finance offered, if no-one here has info, the you will need to read the small print (obviously!).

If you are on benefits then you may be entitled to assistance under the Energy Company Obligation, it may be worth giving the helpline a call (0300 1231234) to get more info.

So exactly what things? If that's all you were told, then that sounds like a scam to talk you into a new boiler. Who is telling you this and what are their qualifications?
On the limited info given, if the CH still operates normally, but the DHW runs cold because the main burner won't fire, you appear to have merely a faulty diverter valve, which is a common combi fault and a simple and relatively cheap item to replace: probably about £80 plus an hour's labour?
I don't think there is a pilot light on this model.
    Heres one:

hi please don't get finance on a boiler unless you really have to ... try affordable warmth its a government grant if you are on any benefits its totally free.. from what you are saying about your boiler its one of 2 things its lack of oxygen in the combustion chamber causing flame lift, this can be caused by a problem with the flue. or an over heat stat locking the pilot out depending on what type of stat it has on the boiler. As an gas safe installer IF you are considering a replacement i would recommend a Potterton gold hands down :) hope this helps
