Monsoon Complaint

As many of you who have a monsoon reward card may know, today is 15% off day. I decided to go to my store in Eastleigh Southampton and I purchased £38.00 worth of good.
When I got to the til the customer adviser was unaware of the offer and would not honour the discount. I showed her the offer on my smart phone and the store manager was called. I was given the impression that they did not believe me that I was showing them a genuine monsoon email and off the store manager trots to get her phone to see if she has the same email. She tells me that she is on Vodafone and the signal is poor due to a bird nesting in Vodafone areal and she can't look up the email. She gives me head office number and tells me to give them a call and they will sort out my 15% discount, so off home I come.
I call customer services and speak to the adviser only to be told if I want the discount I need to go back to the store and refund the items and buy them again and the store will then give me the discount as she will call ahead and let them know.
So, to obtain a discount worth £5.70 I will have to spend another £2.40 in parking, plus petrol, plus my time. I was on the phone for over 30 minutes to get to this conclusion.
I told them that I felt it was unacceptable solution and that had the staff been informed correctly then this would not of happened.
I mentioned that I felt they were falsely encouraging people in he store as the discounts were not being honoured and it's false advertising and the press should know. Well, after that the customer service advisor refused to carry on the conversation, the call centre manager would not speak to me and I am told that if I call head office that she would phone ahead and tell them not to talk to me as I am threatening them with the press - I have never before had the misfortune to deal with such a small minded company who over one comment panics so much.
My question is, do I waste more time, petrol and money going back to the store (forgot to say they said it must be within he next week)? Do I waste yet more time complaining to head office who are now to scared to talk over the phone?
Advise please!

That's what she told me.
Like I said the customer services, how would I know that the store manager is on vodafone if she did not go to see if she had been sent the email too.Sealed Pot Challenge #6010 -
I'd take the items back, get the refund then tell them where to shove their reward card, but then I'm a stroppy mareAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Unless you really do intend on going to the press, I wouldn't mention that again... If you do want to report them to the press, I don't think you need approval from their head office first!
Personally, I would return the £38's worth of stuff to them and leave the reward card behind on the till. Ridiculous service! A manager getting her phone out on the shop floor to prove a customer wrong?! Would be disciplined in some of the shops I've worked in!0 -
To be honest I never said I would go to the press but as they are being so childish and refusing to talk anymore I am tempted too now.
I just don't like to store telling e that customer service would deal with the discount and customer services telling me the store will do it.
This was a total impulse purchase made on the back of the discount email and it's wrong the store are not better informedSealed Pot Challenge #6010 -
I can never find anything to buy in Monsoon these days. It's all overly patterned overly embellished stuff."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
