Mc D's Monopoly Age restriction for instant prizes

I can't get my head round this one.
DS is 15 yrs of age, old enough to purchase any item from the Mcdonalds menu, joins his friends at the table, discover he had won an instant prize of a Hot Apple Pie, however then discovers upon attempting to claim his prize that he is TOO YOUNG to claim it. He needed to be over 16 yrs.
Luckily a woman in the queue offered to collect his prize for him.
Madness if you ask me

Probably tied into gambling/lottery/etc legislation - can't encourage gambling in kids etc.0

It's nothing to do with McD's, it's a legal issue.
As no skill is needed the prize draw is considered the same as a lottery and the same laws and rules apply as a lottery.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I think it's because those apple pies are hotter than the sun and kids can't be trusted not to nuke their own mouths."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Thats odd, They allowed my 8 year old to redeem his free cheeseburger & coke - However the lass behind the counter did say its one free redemption, per person, per day, so I redeemed the coke for him.0

My eight-yr-old and my friend's thirteen-yr-old went up together to get their free apple pie and sugared doughnut and had no problems at all with being allowed them by the staff.I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!

Madness if you can't understand that it's obviously due to gambling legislation, and not McDonald's own policy.0 -

Obviously.
Especially when someone else has posted that further up the thread, so you can read it and pretend that you're wonderfully knowledgeable.0 -
