Paypal echeque

I sold an item to a buyer and they paid by echeque on 08/05/07. Paypal advised me it would clear by 17/05/07. Today it has been cancelled and I had a message off the buyer saying its been cancelled but she does not know why, its never happened before. I have never been paid via echeque before - I suppose it's easier now to just ask for a P.O ??? Its for less than £2 too - alot of trouble for not much really.

i've never understood the point of these echeques, maybe i dont get it and someone could explain, but is there any benefit?!?!
why cant they pay via a standard paypal payment?0 -
Paypal goes through phases where every payment comes through as echeque. Around the 8th I had about 7 and I hardly ever get e-cheques, just a glitch that means they come through, or the person has not verified their account and has chosen to pay by bank funds.
It's a pain in the backside, I have had them bouce as well though. As the seller if she can sort out another method or payment or send a payment request and it should come through as an instant payment.
Someone bought something on my website - she called this week to question where her goods were that she bought on 3rd - I told her that the cheque has not cleared yet the money came from her Bank Account the day she paid - I got it yesterday (16th! 2 weeks!)!!

E-cheques generally take 10 days to clear .... I agree, what a pain.0

I have had several echeque payments. In one case the buyer contacted me to ask why I had cancelled her payment. I told her that I coudn't cancel the payment only refund it, so either herself or paypal has cancelled it. Anyway, she resent the payment and it came through as an intstant payment. That was a strange one.0

If there's not enough cash in my paypal account to cover my purchase then paypal offers the option to pay direct from my bank account. (I think this is what an echeque is?) I usually check that the seller is ok with this before I bid.
I didnt think it was possible to cancel this process once started? I suppose it would be cancelled if not enough money in the bank account?... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Maybe her account hadnt topped up in time for the first payment? It takes min. 10 days to get money from my bank account into my paypal account.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

no it isnt an instant payment when it comes from my bank account, it takes allegedly 7 - 10 days according to paypal, but in reality often takes longer though the money is usually taken from my bank account very swiftly... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
