eBay Account Wrongly Suspended - Help!

Dear All

I hope you guys can offer some advice. My eBay account has been indefinitely suspended (MC999) because they have associated me with another account which has breached selling standards.

A quick search on eBay's "My World" reveals that this other account is based in the USA. I am in Kent!

I have phoned customer services who advised me to use the online email facility to appeal, which I did, saying this other account was not me and please could they remove the suspension.

The reply said "your account was found to have the same or similar contact information (e.g. Registration information/ Financial Information) as the restricted eBay account" and they will not back down.

They refuse to divulge what exactly the connection is (in case I'm a fraudster) so it's hard to prove my innocence if I don't know what the charge is.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to proceed?

Go stealth.

Ebay rarely reinstate accounts, even when they make mistakes.

Yes it seems abandoning my account and starting over might be the only option, but this requires a new IP address, different bank card and email addy etc and is a load of hassle.

Has anyone ever been successful in dealing with Customer Services / Complaints Dept?

When it comes to getting them to reverse an account ban? Good luck. From what I've seen/heard, pigs might fly I think is the phrase!

I recently changed Broadband provider - and i had to start proving it was me again.

So it does show they use the IP address.

Yes. A few years ago (I posted on here). The long and short was I bought some PC's for use in my business which were linked to a banned account.

It took me two weeks of telephoning and faxing Ebay to pass the info to Trust and Safety. Eventually they (T&S) called me back and with info from the police, it was resolved.

Its not aload of hassle. You can be up and running on a new account tonorrow

I fully expect I'll have to start up another account in stealth mode, but obviously I shouldn't have to...

From a quick Google around, it seems complaining to the CEO is worth a shot, so I might do that.

I'll let you know if I get anywhere in the hope that it might help others in a similar predicament.

Do not try and open a new account. You need to get this one resolved. Persevere if you can prove you are not the person they think you are.
