I don't know if this happend to any of you.
My dad was supposed to land in leeds; ryanair airplane nearly touched the airport at leeds but then sharply pulled back up again.
After a bit the pilot apologised for the inconvinience and said that they were supposed to land in manchester.
However, the plan was supposed to land in leeds and they didn't provide any other details regarding this event.
How can I find out why this happend? and check whether I can do anything about it, he called a friend who came to pick him up and then he had to take a taxi to go back home as he landed in a completaly different airport.

What was the flight number and date of travel?
With the amount of control in place it should be pretty much impossible to get as far along as almost landing and then be diverted unless Leeds suddenly had an emergency.0 -
If his ticket said Leeds they should have taken him there after the flight.travelover0

It was on the local news this morning that flights from Leeds Bradford were being delayed due to the strength of the wind. Possibly the same yesterday??
I know they only have the one runway so can't swap to another. It is also, apparently, the highest airport in the UK and often affected by crosswinds.
Just a guess though!0 -
As a frequent (and occasionally terrified) flyer into Leeds, I can confirm it is a nightmare in windy conditions, not only is it the highest airport in the UK, the runway faces the 'wrong' way so the wind is frequently across the runway making landing something of an event. If the plane ended up in Manchester, they should have arranged transport back to Leeds. After two failed attempts to land we diverted to Teeside Airport which is really in the middle of nowhere, for me Manchester would have been a much better option but the one thing airlines cannot control is the weather.0

The OP just says,
"he called a friend who came to pick him up and then he had to take a taxi to go back home"
They didn't say Ryanair were not arranging transport back to Leeds. Since the airports are so close together and the diversion had only just happened I guess it takes a little while to arrange a coach.

Yes, lots of weather (wind) related diversions fromLeeds over the last few days.
Crew on board will not know of arrangements for onward travel until they get to the diversion airport and there will normally be announcements at the airport.0 -
If it was one of these I'd be happy with Manchester

My friend recently had a flight back from krakow with Ryan air to stansted - her flight was cancelled as the incoming plane was diverted (pilot wouldn't land due to weather)
The only option they gave her was to fly back to Birmingham & no transport from there provided.0 -

So this wasn't a diverted flight she was on, she re-booked on an alternative route. That wasn't her only option she would have been offered options such as here,

She chose an alternative flight rather than wait for the next flight to her original destination. Been there, done that (with BA) but that's life.0 -
the flight was on the 16th of april FR2485
My dad told me that the plane was being piloted very aggressively, the problem is that there was no announcement regarding the bad weather or anything so it was hard to understand what was going on.
After the flight landed, no explanation was given, or at least not in an appropriate time. My dad called a taxi as the friend was waiting for him in leeds airport.
Sounds like it was to do with the weather.0
