As title explains really, My sister in law has confided in me today that she thinks she may be pregnant. She has had a few weird symptoms, sore boobs, sore back, weird feeling in lower stomach. Although a big BUT... she has done 4 pregnancy tests over the past week and all have come out negative. Her period was due 2-3 days ago and hasnt arrived. The tests she used are those 69p ones from cheap shop, would that make a difference?
I have no experience in this area yet so can anyone help? Any advice. Thanks

Yeah I'd assume that they would be a little late in confirming a pregnancy. Especially if conception was later than what would be expected. I'd advise her to try an 'early' test, or a clearblue. Other than that just test again in a few days.0

Get a First Response or Clearblue Digi test and give it another go. Keep testing until either she gets a positive result or period. If neither happens within the next two weeks, go to GP for hormone check via blood test."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I missed my period for 2 months last year and had negative tests. I wasn't pregnant, I believe my body didn't ovulate so didn't shed the uterine lining and when I ovulated the next month, it did so I got my period again
It's quite common from what I've read.

I ovulated late in my cycle, so the tests I did just after I was due showed negative even though I was pregnant. I was told not to drink anything after 6pm in the evening before I was going to do a test and use my first wee of the morning (more concentrated) That one was positive!0

Don't want to worry you, but..
I had a negative test in my 4th pregnancy. I was so sure I was pregnant as I recognised the signs. Tried another test a couple of weeks later and it was positive. It was a twin pregnancy and apparently sometimes the hormones can be out of kilter which upsets the reading.
I later read that you can get a false negative with pregnancy tests, but not a false positive.0 -
You can get evaps on tests that look like positives. They're evil.Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

Maybe she is just having a slightly longer cycle than usual.. I had a few 11-13 week cycles last year which I have never had before, ever, it is perfectly normal to be a couple of days early or late it is hardly something to panic about.
The tests are probably right and she is working herself up over nothing at all.
