Buy from Carphone warehouse or direct from O2?

Hi,

I have seen an offer on Carphonewarehouse for an S4 and O2 have the same offer but with CPW they offer an accessory bundle and the handset is £20 cheaper.

Who would be the better company to buy from?

What are CPW like?

If anyone could help it would be much apprcieated

TIA

CPW just act as a broker for O2 (and others). Your airtime contract will still be with O2, however any handset problems will be dealt with by CPW.

If it's cheaper at CPW then go for it.
  • I spoke to 02 and they said with 3rd parties there might be hidden charges

Nonsense - the only charges are what O2 will bill you for ongoing service. CW will only bill you for the handset, nothing more. There is also a good chance that the CW handset will not be locked to any particular network, making it more useful.

I suspect they said that so you'd go direct ;)
  • Yes there were recommending going direct.

Would offers on the S4 improve after it comes out or are the preorder offers better? £37 a month is a lot of money for 24 months.

I don't know whether to buy contract now or wait for better deals?

I would go direct. £100 Cashback But then I'm not one to chase 'the latest craze'.

    Hi
If financially it's better buying from cpw then go for it but don't buy from one of their stores expecting any support to set your phone up.
I''ve just bought a phone from them and I said to the sales guy that I could do with some help setting up my email account. He said we could look at that if I bought the phone. Turned out that cpw would provide that assistance via their geek squad for a charge office either £15 for setting up the email or a weekly amount of £1.48

Just my opinion on CPW on Tuesday morning having searched I don't know how many mobile phone sites and the actual mobile companies website. I went for a deal with Vodafone via CPW, I ordered at 8.30 am on Tuesday morning. Tues about 4pm got email to say handset was on its way passed their checks.
Then today (Wed) my phone turns up, so I thought that was pretty good. Read negative stuff about CPW, so quite pleased.
It would of been more expensive going with Vodafone direct.
