We want to demolish our Garage....

It seems strange that they felt they had to lie about a letter from the council, this is normally a last resort. It would be interesting to see what happened if you asked them to pay towards the demolition costs as their ivy at least contributed to the state your garage is in now!! Just one thought, is there any chance you could claim the cost of the demolition on insurance as it is obviously in or approaching a dangerous condition? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Not from the Planning Department though I can't think where else would give advice on this. They also claim that they gave a strip of land to the last people who lived here so that they could get in that garage more easily. I'm expecting them to ask for it back any day if there isn't a garage to access. Though the boundaries are as shown on the title deed - I just downloaded it from Landregistryonline for £3.
Possibly - though I don't think I'd want the hassle - and much of the problem is just that the garage is forty years old and was badly built in the first place.Jane_Blackford wrote: »Just one thought, is there any chance you could claim the cost of the demolition on insurance as it is obviously in or approaching a dangerous condition?I am the Cat who walks alone0 -
I'm afraid I disagree with Hugo. They don't sound very nice at all and are trying to take you for a ride.
Gave some land......Honestly! I think they'd be showing you some paperwork to back that statement up it is was remotely true.
Don't be tempted in any way to accept their offer to pay towards things. That gives them a emotional "right" to have a bit more of a say in what goes on.
Good luck.0
