What did you put in your invites?

Ok, i'm stuck! Apart from the obvious, what did you include in your invites? Did you include a map of how to get there? (our venue is a little out in the sticks but reasonably well known in the area) Did you include your menu? How about details of hotel rooms and b&b's? The venue has blocked off 20 rooms for us, i have a list of who has what rooms but I'm worried if we put this in the invites there will be a huge flood of people asking for rooms! Perhaps I should ask people to ring the place itself and book, once I have given the names of immediate family!
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer

We had literally invite details on one panel (time, place) then a double sided card with RSVP address and gift info on one side, then postcode of church and hotel and phone number for hotel to book rooms on the other
Nice and simple, and got no complaints of missing anything - people can google where it is!!
Also re: rooms, how expensive is the hotel (not a literal figure)? We only had 12 lots of people stay in ours as it was a bit pricey, lots of others went for local b&bs or travelodge etc.Officially Mrs B as of March 2013
TTC since Apr 2015, baby B born March 20170 -

The hotel rooms are quite expensive, in the region of £150-£180 for a double, it was something that put us off a bit but we love it so much out there that we decided to go with it, after lots of people telling us to as well, and seeing how gorgeous the rooms are!! Problem is there aren't lots of hotels in the area and there aren't many b&bs that wouldn't require a car to get home, it's on country lanes! So i'm not sure if I should just put the name of the hotel and say to quote our wedding if they ring for a room! Thank you for your helpDebt free (if you don't count the mortgage!)0 -
We had a standard invite but then I set up a wedding website free though mywedding.com it was so easy and looked great.
I just included the website address on the inviteFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Oooh I hadn't thought about doing that. I guess what i'm trying to avoid is lots of questions and text messages that are going to stress me out!! The website might be a good way of doing thisDebt free (if you don't count the mortgage!)0 -
Our invites were emailed saying please see our website for all the details. We used gettingmarried.co.ukForty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

Ours just had a little map, the invite also had the website address - we used gettingmarried.co.uk
We emailed separately the people who would be staying in the hotel, with the code for our block reservation, so they can call up and book/pay themselves.0 -
On the invite, we had the obvious; date, time etc...
Then I typed and printed out little slips.. on one side was the poem we wrote asking for money, and on the other side we gave two hotel options, one at the hotel we were having the reception and a cheaper travelodge which was down the road, with the contact numbers on.
Nearer the wedding I made various sets of directions, from the different routes to get to the church which I either gave to the guests or posted, and then at the church we had directions to the reception venue for them to take. This seemed to go down really well as although a lot of our guests were in convoy, some stayed at the church longer than others as weren't in photos etc and wanted to get going and so the directions really helpedMarried my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0 -
We had quite a lot of stuff in there despite having a wedding website! Had postcodes of venue, list of 3 nearest hotels, a list of general info like what time it ended and that we were providing confetti and the bar was cash only etc and also had a slip where people could request a couple of songs for the dj to play. We made pocketfold invites though so there was plenty of room for everything luckily!0

Hopefully there will be plenty of room in ours! I want to put plenty in so that it's helpful, but not so much that I end up with lots of questions about things because people don't think for themselves when i've given them all the info :SDebt free (if you don't count the mortgage!)0 -

All the questions we've had so far have been information included in the invites. I'm sure most people haven't actually read them.
We included venue details, timings (provisional), dress, children, entertainment, parking and catering. We've had questions on all of them0
