When I opened my Halifax Account last year I got a Cheque Book Debit Card and Clarity card, the Clarity Card (Mastercard) was contactless, but the Debit card was not !. So I phoned them and was told that contactless is only issued in certain trial areas, but if I wanted one I could be sent one, I said yes I do and it came in a few days. So just phone them and ask for one.

My card (Before changing it to contactless) could be used a pay at pump, trains etc so don't worry about that.

Thank you, I took your advice and called, the adviser explained they don't issue contactless cards automatically when you open a Current Account but she has ordered me one.

    All sorted!

I'm not sure that's quite true as when I opened a new Current account to be my bills one the debit card came with contactless, I didn't have to request it.

I guess it depends on who at Halifax creates the account and chooses either Normal or contacless card to be send out.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

I see, dosen't matter I guess. She did advise i'll have to go to a HBOS Till and activate Contactless before the feature becomes live though. And she said I hadn't requested a Cheque Book when I applied but I merely have to pop into a branch with some ID and ask for one!

You have to use it once in a chip and pin terminal with your pin number to get it work contactless.
