My neighbour asked me to replace a tap washer, we turned off the main stopcock in the house and checked the meter, it was still turning, they had a leak between the meter and the stopcock, bills of £190 per quarter now reduced to £22 !

To test: Gently close off your stopcock and then check the meter, if it is still turning you may have a leak between the meter and the house.

***DO NOT FORCE THE STOPCOCK***

(it's a good idea too open and close the stop-!!!! a few times per year)

Hope this helps
