My son has had his survey today, it is a grant under the CERO scheme,as monstereyebrows said, there will be nothing to pay. Several residents have already had it done including my friend who lives in the same complex.

Although his downstairs neighbour has signed up for the scheme, the assessor said it did not matter as the construction of the flats means that they are all separated. (They are sort of 'layered', one on top of the other).

    They have freeholder's consent :)

    So.....all systems go!

  • Hi there

Just to confirm in your sons case the insulation would be free as it would be treated under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) the strand name carbon emissions reduction obligation (CERO)

Under this scheme its free to treat hard to treat cavity walls and 3 or more story properties fall into hard to treat. However consents would be needed from other owners and the freeholder before it could be installed.

Our flat is in a block and we managed to get everyone to agree to the cavity wall insulation, which was carried out last year. This winter, even with the extra cold weather, the communal heating system used 20% less fuel. Brilliant result!

Great news, hope my son has such a reduction on his heating. His flat is all electric, he has electric radiators.
