  • Hi Everyone,

Apologies for the delay in responding. The day was a resounding success. There was lots of stress beforehand (we thought it was going to start raining at 2pm just as it opened) but at 2pm it was glorious sunshine for the rest of the day.

Our friends provided 1940's / 1950s jazz numbers on guitar and singing, while people browsed round and enjoyed traditional tea and cake (all donated).

We had a raffle and the best part of the day was when by girlfriends dad who had a stroke last year (and whose charity we were raising money for) managed to come along with the help of the care home providing a taxi and carer.

We couldn't have done it without all our friends help and in the end we raised a massive (and unheard of in all the years of it being run in our village) of £1050 for charity (in just 4 hours).

The garden looked spectacular (and continues to evolve) although I admit I took a rest for a few weeks after the event.

    I'll post up pictures shortly.

    Thanks,
    early retirement wannabe
